Time for heat-health action: Updated evidence for effective prevention

The year 2020 was one of the three warmest on record. This year, we must also brace ourselves for a long, hot summer as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates the problems caused by prolonged periods of heat. Join this webinar organised jointly by the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health and the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) Secretariat.

The webinar is hosted by WHO and will focus on:

  • Climate change and heat in Europe

  • The latest evidence related to the effective prevention of health effects caused by heat-waves

  • Country case studies on adapting existing heat‒health action plans

  • The WHO/Europe campaign on #KeepCool in the heat and new video clips in support to the campaign.

The programme includes a presentation on “Updated evidence for effective heat-health prevention in the WHO European Region” by ENBEL member Francesca de’Donato from the Regional Health Authority, Lazio Region, Italy together with Gerardo Sanchez Martinez from the European Environment Agency.
