Policy engagement

Target and engage with relevant EU, and national decision-makers and provide input into relevant EU policymaking processes

ENBEL will engage with decision-makers and stakeholders involved in climate adaptation and health policies and measures to understand their evidence needs, and translate scientific evidence from the Belmont Forum climate, environment and health projects and associated H2020 projects into targeted outputs relevant for EU, national and regional policy.

The aim is to ensure that public health is considered in decision-making related to climate policies and, vice versa, that climate change is considered by the health sector. The aim is also to ensure that evidence translation also addresses the protection of those most vulnerable to climate change.

We will:

  • conduct stakeholder mapping of policymakers relevant to climate and health in the EU, European countries and in Africa to understand their perceptions and concerns regarding the health impacts of climate change;

  • undertake an evidence gap analysis on adaptation policies relevant to health to identify current evidence gaps;

  • engage with policy relevant meetings through national and city level networks on climate change and health

  • develop knowledge products targeted at decision makers.
